Small single bird-in-cage, by Karl Griesbaum

A small single bird-in-cage, by Karl Griesbaum,

German,

Circa 1950,

Goung barrel movement,

One of Karl's best selling singing birds...

When wound, the bird with striking lime green and turquoise layered feathered plumage, moves painted wood beak, head and tailfeather to continuous synchronised birdsong.

Upon brass T perch decorated with ivy leaves and twine, under circular domed cage with hoop and boss top, pressed metal base with floral swag helix to waist, captive key wind underside, start/stop to side, red velvet to interior base.

12.1/2in. high, 6in. wide - (31.7 x 15.2cm)

Point of interest -

Just because this is a late example, doesn't mean to say it is not of the quality you should expect.  Griesbaum's production run lasted many years for the good reason they were very good.  The birdsong used in these model runs well and hardly needs any tinkering or adjusting.  Most bellows do not need recovering as they were made of the finest zepher skin.
